It’s officially winter and if you’re anything like me, you’re already well on your way to battling my least favorite thing of the season… dry skin. This year I’ve gotten to work making some sugar scrubs to help me conquer this battle and I’m sharing one of my favorites with you today!
Sugar scrubs are great for combating dry skin. The sugar grains exfoliate as you scrub and the oil leaves your skin feeling extra soft and smooth when you towel off. As an added bonus, sugar can actually be great for your skin and you can choose nearly any scent you please! Today I’m going with a vanilla scrub, which also makes a perfect last minute Christmas gift for you slackers out there. 😉
Ingredients (makes about 1 cup):
½ cup coconut oil
¾ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Small airtight decorative jars for gift giving
1. Melt your coconut oil in the microwave for 15-25 seconds (until softened)
2. Add the white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract to the oil and mix thoroughly
3. Spoon mixture into container(s)
4. Scrub hands with ~1 teaspoon of scrub, 2-3 times a week!
This is one of my favorite holiday scrubs and is easily customizable! Another one of my favorites this season is a green peppermint scrub that you should definitely try! Switch out the brown sugar for more white sugar, the vanilla for peppermint extract, and add one drop of green food coloring. You’re welcome 🙂
