Impulsive Purchase: New Camera

Sony Alpha a6000 camera

I wasn’t planning on it, but a couple weeks ago I bought a new camera. Sometimes, when I get an idea in my head, I just seem to run with it. I think most people consider that being impulsive. I’m not so sure. If you thoroughly think a thought through before acting, is that impulsive? Maybe there’s different stages of impulsiveness? Or maybe I need a new word.

Take my car for example. One day I decided I wanted a better vehicle for winter and about a month later I walked off the Subaru lot with a brand new, 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Justified. And no regrets.

Or maybe my laptop is a better example. There is no explanation as to why I needed MacBook so badly, but the idea got stuck in my head and I ran with it. A couple weeks later I sold my Lenovo and purchased a brand new MacBook. Justified? Probably not. But no regrets.

Well, this time it was a camera. A couple weeks ago I decided to find a decent camera that I could use to boost the quality of my blog photos but that would also make a great every day camera that I could use to capture beautiful shots of family gatherings and day to day memories. It didn’t take me long to convince myself that I needed a camera, so I talked to some of my photography-smart friends and did a bunch of research… and a few days later I purchased a Sony Alpha a6000. Justified? Not really. Regrets? Absolutely not.

I haven’t had a ton of time to play around with and learn much about the camera, but I wanted to share some of my favorite first shots with you guys.

I’m in love with my new camera but I’m definitely in need of some practice. Do you know of any good photography tutorials?
